Album Runs’ mission is to build community through the unique experience of fusing exercise and music.
We invite you to run with us while listening to an album, uninterrupted and in its entirety, in hopes of connecting participants to a body of music on a deeper level - a practice that has been lost in the age of streaming. A discussion of the album happens post-run as a group, encouraging critical-thinking and connection.
Album Runs was created and is currently led by Mauricio Reyes, an avid runner and serious music aficionado. A five-time marathon and eleven-time half-marathon finisher, Mauricio makes music a part of all of his runs. From 2013-2021, Mauricio contributed to the Good Day Chicago morning show on Fox 32, giving on-air concert and music festival previews. In 2017, he started the Rising Star segment on the same network, giving local artists - such as Rayvn Lenae, DRAMA, and Smino - their first televised interviews and performances.
Currently employed by CBS Chicago, Mauricio has also brought attention to the running community in Chicago, by booking guests from Tortugas Running Club, 7 on Sundays, Gumbo Fit, and Venados while continuing to feature local artists such as Neal Francis, Friko, Ratboys, Charles Joseph Smith, and The Smoking Popes.
From 2013-2017, Mauricio hosted his own weekly radio show, The Triple Truth, on CHIRP Radio 107.1 FM, playing the hits of ‘today, tomorrow, and never’. He occasionally appears as a substitute host on CHIRP Radio to this day.
